  1. Jul 28,  · Experiment with a different mat, in my case I find the Funk Firm Achromat works very well both sonically & in keeping static pops down, but read around, there are plenty of alternatives. And its worth trying out different cartridges, an elliptical stylus will pick up less detail than a fine line, but will (imho) also be kinder on surface noise.

  3. Nov 18,  · Thanks for sharing Dan. I have a new here that I cut the squish band in. It has just shy of PSI. It's still on it's first tank of fuel, so not even close to broken in. My has a popup piston with just shy of PSI. I'm anxious to get some time on the to make a fair comparison. It's not a perfect test for the popup/flattop debate.
  4. For Berkeley, Calif.'s Slumberland Records, one of the best and most forward-looking imprints of the scene, it was just the opposite. Their amazing compilation, Why Popstars Can't Dance (answer: "because guilty feet have got no rhythm") brought together a more progressive selection of pop-united styles: early drones from Stereolab, the sharp guitar and overwhelming organ buzz of 5/5(1).
  5. Like if I'm lying in bed listening to an album with tambourine, if I roll my head over to one side, I can't hear the tambourine, but if I roll it over to the other, I can hear it. 7. Dec 03,  · Snap crackle and pop on an LP could mean scratches, groove damage, or maybe a poor vinyl pressing. If the record looks little used or carefully played, its probably just dust & dirt buildup. Vinyl can be very static-y which helps this stuff stick. Static discharge usually makes a light crackle or pop sound.
